Dental Implants |
|
Missing teeth, single or multiple can be best replaced with dental implants. A dental implant is a small titanium screw that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. The screw is painlessly placed inside the jaw bone and left to heal. The healing period varies from patient to patient depending on bone quality and quantity. Once the implant fuses with the bone, an artificial tooth is attached to the implant.
Dental Implants may be used to replace one or more missing teeth. In case of completely edentulous patients, implants may be used to fix the dentures to the underlying bone. Needless to say, an implant offers several advantages over conventional treatment options. The benefits of implant treatment include improved appearance and self-esteem as well the enhanced ability to chew and enjoy your food, coupled with protection of your remaining teeth and jawbone.
The only disadvantage is that the dental implants are costly and the time involved in the entire treatment. |

Cavity Fillings |
|
A cavity calls for your dentist to remove the decay and to fill in the tooth area that was removed in order to prevent further decay and strengthen the affected tooth. There have been lots of advances in modern dentistry that make this process much more comfortable and use materials that are safer and more esthetically pleasing.
SILVER FILLINGS
Earlier the trend was to have amalgam fillings (silver) or gold filling restorations. These fillings contain mercury which is poisonous to the body as well as the environment. Also the amalgam fillings are generally not as advantageous as composite fillings because they demand more of a tooth removal and are susceptible to corrosion.
COMPOSITE FILLINGS (Tooth-coloured)
Composite resin dental fillings were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings. Tooth fillings colored to look like a natural tooth are known as Composite Resin Dental Fillings and are made of a plastic dental resin combined with glass particles. These types of fillings are, durable and are way more natural looking than amalgam fillings.
If you have a cavity in a tooth or broken fillings or if your teeth are full of silver fillings you may want to ask your dentist about changing to composite dental fillings. Silver fillings can easily be removed and replaced with far more attractive colored fillings. Research shows that composite fillings actually strengthen your tooth and further protect it from decay. |

Dental Crowns or Dental Caps |
|
Dental Crowns or Dental Caps are tooth-shaped restorations that are used to cap or support a decayed or damaged tooth. Since dental crown encase the entire visible aspect of the tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth’s new outer surface.
Dentist usually suggests that the patient should have a protection through dental crown to prevent the possible outcome of a cracked tooth. Unlike cracked bones, the cracks in teeth do not repair themselves or heal over. Once a crack has formed, it would definitely increase in size over time due to exposure in heavy biting forces. Crowns are needed when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings can not suffice to alleviate the problem. The crown holds the tooth together to seal in the cracks to prevent tooth from further cracking. Crowns cup cover and encase the tooth on which they are placed. It can be also used to support a large filling, attach a bridge, guard weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth, cover up badly shaped or discolored teeth and protect a root-canal filled tooth.
The procedure begins by numbing the teeth area and removing any decay or weakened areas in the teeth. The dentist then reshaped the remaining tooth structure to create appropriate crown design. A tooth receiving a dental crown must be slightly tapered in form so the crown will slip over and onto the tooth. As a part of the trimming process the dentist will also ensure that any decay will be removed from the tooth. If the remaining teeth structure is not really strong, a composite resin is added unto the tooth structure to build it up and to guarantee that the crown will have a good foundation.
When the tooth has been appropriately shaped by the dentist, he will then make a copy of the patient’s tooth by way of taking an impression. There are two ways by which this impression can be done.
The first method is through Impression Material where dentists make an impression by using putty-like material in the patient’s tooth. This impression will then be sent to a dental laboratory that will in turn use it to create a plaster cast. The amount of time required to fabricate dental crowns usually lies on the order of two weeks or more.
Another way of getting an impression is through a camera that is attached to the dental ceramic milling machine. When the dentist have this machine, he can consequently design the patient’s dental crown and then create it by milling down a block of dental ceramic or porcelain in a matter of several minutes. The obvious advantage of this technique is that a tooth can be shaped and its dental crown cemented into place at once.
However, milling machines can only be used to fabricate porcelain crowns. And there are instances when the physical properties of porcelain crown are not appropriate for the patient’s situation. And in these cases, when the dental crown will be created in the dental laboratory, the patient’s tooth will be covered over by a temporary dental crown that your dentist has made.
The temporary crown which is typically made from plastic or a thin shell of metal are usually cemented into place using temporary cement so they can be removed easily when the permanent crown is ready. The temporarily cemented crown is not very strong so as much as possible, bulk of chewing activities should be done on the other side of temporary crown. A tooth with a temporary dental crown can usually be brushed and flossed in gentler way to prevent the crown to be snagged or pulled.
When the fabricated crown is ready, the dentist will numb the area and proceed with the process of cementing the crown on the patient’s tooth. Temporary crown is likewise removed. The dentist will then evaluate the way it fits on the patient’s tooth by using dental floss, feeling it with a dental tool, or asking the patient to gently bite down. When the crown fits seamlessly and contacts the neighboring teeth correctly, the crown is finally cemented on the tooth. The dentist will then scrape away any excess cement that has extruded from underneath the edges of your crown. After this, the placement of the crown is now complete. |

Root Canal |
|
A root canal is a hollow cavity within the tooth that houses the vital part of the tooth-the pulp. The pulp provides nutrition to the tooth via the blood and is also responsible for tooth sensitivity because of the presence of the nerves.
If a canal ever gets infected, the pulp that it feeds can die. Usually an infection causes increased blood flow to the tooth, resulting in an increase in pain, discomfort, and sensitivity. Unless it is treated, this pain will likely remain and could result in the tooth eventually falling out.
In order to prevent tooth loss, a root canal surgery must be performed. The surgery is designed to clear out diseased material from inside the canal. To perform a root canal surgery, a hole is drilled into the tooth to allow access to the inner pulp. The diseased pulp must be completely removed, and the cavity is usually filled and capped with some inert material.
The success rate of root canal surgery is high. Only 5% of the cases typically require remedial treatment. Complications usually involve re-infection of the pulp from diseased tissue that was inadvertently left behind. A re-infection of the tooth could mean either another root canal surgery or the loss of the tooth.
After the surgery, the tooth will remain sensitive to pressure for 2-3 days so chewing hard foods on it is not recommended for that period. However, a successful root canal surgery can restore a patient’s ability to chew without continuous pain or the possibility of losing that tooth.
If you have excessive tooth pain, be sure to consult your dentist today about a root canal surgery. |

Orthodontics (Braces) |
|
Orthodontics is the speciality of dentistry that deals with straightening and correcting the tooth alignment.
Who Needs Orthodontic Treatment?
Today children as well as adults are choosing to have orthodontic treatment since age is no longer a factor that governs the feasibility of the treatment. But as you grow older the duration of the treatment is increased since it is easier to shift and align teeth during the growth phase of the jaws. Orthodontic treatment corrects
- malocclusion (bite or occlusion is off)
- tooth malalignment (crooked teeth)
Why Treat Malocclusion?
- Orthodontics is not only used to improve your appearance.
- Malocclusion or malaligned teeth can have long term effects, such as:
- interference with normal growth and development of the jaws
- abnormal swallowing patterns
- abnormal facial muscle function
- impairment of chewing
- speech defects
- susceptibility to cavities due to the difficulty of removing plaque from crooked teeth
- vulnerability to accidents or fractured teeth (if your front teeth stick out, they may be more easily injured)
How Do Braces Work?
Teeth can slowly be moved and shifted into proper position by applying pressure in certain directions. Bands, wires and elastics are placed on the teeth to move them in the right direction. This takes place slowly and carefully over an extended period of time. Shifting teeth back into a functional position can take months to years, but eventually you'll have a new and improved mouth! Retainers are often used after the braces, to hold the teeth in their new position until they are stable. It is important to wear the braces or an appliance for however long it takes. If you quit at any point during treatment, the teeth can shift back into their old position.
Invisible Braces
Most people want better looking teeth but they also don’t want people to know that they have braces or deal with the unattractiveness of having those things in your mouth for so long. You can give the appearance that you don’t have braces simply by asking for invisible braces. They are a little more expensive but they’ll get the job done, and you won’t look like a 13 year old. Lingual Braces These are the ultimate in brace concealing technology. They are placed on the backs of your teeth so nobody will even see that you have them on, unless they get an up close and personal look at the inside of your mouth. You can have them applied to either the top or bottom teeth. |

Tooth Whitening (Bleaching) |
|
The term ’whitening’ strictly speaking is a misnomer. This is because natural color of teeth is never perfectly white. It is a combination of white and yellow in varying proportions. Broadly, the procedure aims at restoring the natural white colour of the teeth. |

BRUSHING THE RIGHT WAY.........
Place the bristles at the gum margin, establishing an angle of 45 degrees to the long axis of the teeth. Exert gentle vibratory pressure, using short back-and-forth motions without dislodging the tip of the bristles. Complete approximately 20 strokes in the same position.
Continue around the arch, brushing around three teeth at a time, then use the same method to brush the inner surfaces of the teeth. To help reach the inner surfaces of the front teeth, insert the brush vertically.
Press the bristles firmly into the chewing surfaces of the teeth and brush with about 20 back-and-forth strokes.
FLOSSING
Start with apiece of floss long enough to grasp securely; 12 to 18 inches is usually sufficient. Stretch the floss tightly between the thumb and fore-fingers.
Pass the floss gently through each contact area of the tooth with a firm back-and-forth motion.
Once the floss is below the contact area between the teeth, wrap the floss around the proximal surface of one tooth, and slip it under the gum margin. Move the floss firmly along the tooth up to the contact area and gently down into the gum margin again, repeating this up and down stroke several times. |

Gum Grafting |
|
Most of the people think that teeth are the only element of a beautiful smile. However, the fact is that the size, shape, integrity and health of gum tissue greatly influence the aesthetic appearance of even the most perfect teeth. Too much gum tissue can lead to teeth that look short and wide while too little gum tissue can lead to exposure of root surfaces of teeth that look way too long.
Periodontics is an area of expertise that deals with treatment of the gum and bone supporting the teeth. In health, the gums firmly grip the neck of the tooth. If food is allowed to accumulate between the tooth and the gum margin, it forms plaque along with the microbes. The resultant irritation of the gum margins produces a condition called as GINGIVITIS characterized by redness, bleeding and swelling of the gums. If proper attention is paid at this stage the condition is perfectly reversible. However in untreated cases the condition further deteriorates leading to the destruction of the tooth-supporting tissues. The condition is then called PERIODONTITIS or PYORRHOEA. At this stage the teeth start shaking, they are unable to withstand chewing forces, pus forms in the gums and foul smell starts from the mouth.
Treatment:
Non-surgical treatment involves scaling and polishing of teeth. The effectiveness of the procedure depends largely on the stage of the disease, the efficiency of instrumentation and the maintenance on the part of the patient.
The Surgical approach to treatment is usually recommended for cases where complete removal of the irritants from root surface of the tooth is not possible. It involves reflection of the gums by 1-1 1/2 mm and debriding the area under direct vision. The procedure is called flap surgery and is performed under local anaesthesia. |

Dental Bridge |
|
A dental bridge crown (or pontic) is a custom-made false tooth or teeth, that is permanently placed between two healthy teeth, filling in the area left by a missing tooth or teeth. The bridge is held in place by porcelain crowns placed on the healthy teeth on each side of space to be filled. Bridges reduce the risk of gum disease, limit the shifting of remaining teeth, help correct some bite problems and help improve speech.
We fabricate dental bridges with frameworks that can be customized as per the customer's requirements. We provide dental bridges manufactured using high-grade ceramic, quality porcelain, porcelain-gold bonds and other strong materials. Our bridges are optimized to offer optimum biocompatibility & functionality while still being aesthetically pleasing. |
